ATG's Definition of bioProducts :

bioProducts according to the definition of ATG are all commercial products, which cannot be produced without the perceptions and methods of modern biology and by using biotechnological procedures.

They include bioanalytics and biomedical diagnostics as well as fermentation technology and gene technology for the improvement of biosynthesis of molecules and polymers, biomaterials and supply of food or renewable energy resources, as well as  waste management or land reclamation and more.

By this, they clearly differ from classical, traditional technologies without challenging them, provided they cannot be improved by continuative knowledge with respect to favourable features.

Improvement of properties can be defined in the context of health, ecology, economy and the protection of resources.
bioProducts differ from biological-organic products by the rational substantiation of their use, effectiveness or their properties, but are not neccessarily in contradiction to these. They are in concordance with all criteria of sustainable oeconomical activities of a resource sparing and healthy industrial culture.

Application of Enzymes

EXTENSIVE USE OF ENZYMES IN GENERAL IS BOTH : MODERN BIO - “HIGH TECH“ AND “ECOLOGICALLY BENEFICIAL” . Enzymes, effective as RESEARCH TOOLS, are frequently the basis of ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES because they can be applied in very small amounts, are nontoxic and biodegradable.

Their extensive use will save raw materials, lots of energy and considerable time and is leading to a NEW AGE of the efficient use of renewable resources and provide us with new substances for HEALTH CARE and NUTRITION and therefore are prerequisites for the sustainability of human life.

Important TECHNICAL PROCESSES are improved by enzymes to be more efficient.

Enzymes give mankind access to revolutionary knowledge in medical diagnostics, analytics and and serve as powerful BIOCATALYTICAL TOOLS. Last but not least by Molecular Evolution Approaches enzymes can be adapted to specific tasks to work at optimum conditions.

Enzymes are produced by all living organisms ranging from the most primitive bacteria to plants to human beings. Predominantly they are proteins with highly specialized biocatalytic functions for metabolic and regulatory processes. Enzymes save energy by lowering energetic barriers of the specific reactions they catalyse and are maintaining those energetic barriers which are essential to stabilize compound integrity. They work at moderate to low temperatures if desired and predominantly in water as solvent in contrast to most other chemical reactions performed today.

Enzymes in general are very effective in catalysing thousands to 100-thousands more substrate molecules as enzyme molecules present.

Therefore an enzyme preparation used in a product or a process is equal to 0.1 % or less particles. The knowledge about enzyme use is beneficial for many technical processes outside the organisms or applied as an exogenious source for a variety of applications in improving quality of life e.g. in the field of HEALTH CARE and NUTRITION since thousands of years.

Since the advent of modern Biotechnology and the knowledge of many more enzymatic functions applications for enzymes are increasingly important for our daily life and our future quality of life. The use of enzymes in general is both “ecologically beneficial” and “High Tech“, they are biodegradable, saving raw materials, energy and time and are leading to a new age of the efficient use of renewable resources and sustainability of human life.
